Responsibilities
  • Use Bentley Micro Station and Open Buildings to model 3D MEP services, including cable management systems, pipework, ductwork and related components.
  • Produce 2D sections from 3D models for incorporation into drawings and present design onto schematic and layout drawings.
  • Carry out CAD modelling to appropriate level of detail throughout all development stages, from feasibility to detailed design and hand‑back, meeting relevant industry standards.
  • Coordinate design with other disciplines to ensure a clash‑free design with correct access and maintenance provisions.
  • Work with the project team to maximise data exchange across multiple software platforms, managed through a Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Support the engineering team by reviewing design data, mentoring and upskilling technical staff.
Team
  • Collaborate on projects from early concept through to detailed design.
  • Deliver projects for Network Rail, HS2, Transport for the North, TfGM, Nexus, local authorities, principal contractors and private developers.
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND (minimum) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in rail and civil engineering design projects.
  • Experience with Bentley Micro Station, Open Buildings and Project Wise.
  • Understanding of BIM and working within a Common Data Environment, preferably Bentley Project Wise.
  • Experience managing offshore CAD and BIM resources.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with VBA or macro writing skills an advantage.
Benefits
  • Hybrid working: home two days a week with flexible office collaboration.
  • Health & wellbeing support:
Thrive programme, virtual GP service, reasonable adjustments, Gymflex scheme and a comprehensive menopause support package.
  • Flexibility: WSP My Hour, part‑time and flexible working arrangements, additional leave purchases and bank holiday utilisation.
  • Professional development: training, mentoring and chartership opportunities.
  • Inclusive culture with employee resource groups and a Disability Confident leadership program.

Here at WSP we positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, pregnancy or maternity/paternity.
