As a Fire Engineer you will be responsible for applying the principles of fire science to real projects through the engineering process, from goals and objectives to building appraisal, hazards and design fire scenarios.
Responsibilities- Understand and implement the principle of fire science on real projects via the engineering process (goals, objectives, building appraisal and hazards, design fire scenarios etc).
- Understand the Total Fire Safety concept from client brief, through design and construction, taking account of the socio‑technical context and pre‑empting fire safety issues common at different stages of a project to deliver on the client brief.
- Investigate and apply appropriate legislation and design guidance for use on projects.
- Develop and implement fire strategies in collaboration with the design team and relevant stakeholders.
- Work towards Chartered Engineer status or pursue an authentic motivation to achieve this, with support from the company when necessary.
- Qualification in a relevant subject (fire engineering, other types of engineering, or architecture related).
- Experience in a fire engineering consultancy or a similar industry environment.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and guidance used in the UK, and awareness of the new regulatory regime.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills – be collaborative, creative, and engaging.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, meeting tight deadlines and juggling multiple demands and deliverables.
- Proactivity in resolving issues, creating solutions, and seeking assistance and experience from others when required.
