About the RoleAn excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Utility Surveyor to join a leading consultancy delivering geospatial and underground utility mapping services across the UK and Ireland.
This predominantly field-based position involves carrying out underground utility surveys, drainage investigations and associated mapping works using industry-leading detection technology including GPR, electromagnetic locators and GNSS equipment.
The successful candidate will work across a variety of infrastructure and development projects, delivering PAS 128‑compliant survey information while supporting the safe and efficient delivery of projects ranging from local commissions through to major multi‑site frameworks.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out underground utility mapping and drainage surveys across multiple sites
- Use GPR, EM locators and GNSS equipment to capture accurate survey data
- Produce PAS 128‑compliant utility survey deliverables
- Process and interpret survey data using AutoCAD and GIS software
- Prepare clear technical drawings, reports and client‑ready outputs
- Conduct site risk assessments and work in accordance with health & safety procedures
- Liaise with clients, contractors and project stakeholders on survey requirements
- Support project delivery within agreed timescales and budgets
- Assist with mentoring junior surveyors and supporting wider survey teams
- Maintain quality assurance standards across all survey activities
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within Utility Surveying
- Strong knowledge of PAS 128 standards and utility mapping procedures
- Experience using GPR and electromagnetic detection equipment
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS or related survey processing software
- Strong understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work
- Good communication and client‑facing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider survey team
- HNC, Diploma or QCF Level 3 qualification in Surveying or Utility Mapping preferred
- Formal GPR/EM qualifications advantageous
- IOSH or equivalent health & safety certification desirable
- Full UK driving licence required
- Salary between £37,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
