Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is one of the leading names in the field of Urban Drainage Modelling providing services to the water market sector with many of the UK’s water companies as key clients. Due to a practice expansion we seek to appoint a Wastewater Hydraulic Modelling Specialist to join our teams operating across the UK. We are looking for a strong collaborator, capable of supporting teams and delivering on remote projects as part of our national Practice.

Your role

The role will have key responsibilities relating to business performance, business resilience and technical reputation and will contribute to the implementation of business strategy.

Technical Duties
  • Assume Technical Lead role on projects to ensure AtkinsRéalis delivers Smarter, Faster and More Reliable outcomes for its clients.
  • Undertake Project Director role on projects where required.
  • Undertake Programme / Framework Manager roles on strategic / multi‑disciplinary projects.
  • Actively encourage staff to participate in, and contribute to, internal best practice forums, and external profile‑raising activities.
  • Promote staff development through training, on‑the‑job experience and personal development.
Business Duties
  • Actively encourage Team integration.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards and policies.
  • Develop client relationships with key Water Company and non‑Water Company clients to grow revenue and margin.
  • Promote the merge of traditional engineering skills with innovative digital methods.
  • Manage bidding opportunities to win work and identify and mitigate risks.
About you

Successful candidates shall demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the water market sector, excellent technical skills and a proven track record of business development, client management, project management and line management. The candidate should be degree qualified, have appropriate professional qualifications and have a broad range of experience in the following areas:

  • Model Build and Verification – creating robust sewer network models suitable for analysis and solution development.
  • Model Maintenance – updating models and improving them with a focus on specific study drivers.
  • Hydraulic and Water Quality Analysis – intelligent assessment of catchment hydraulics and pollutant sources to identify needs and risks.
  • Integrated Catchment Modelling – constructing models for assessing the interaction between sewers (storm and foul), watercourses and overland flows.
  • Catchment Planning – determining hydraulic, environmental and operational needs of catchments and developing horizon strategies to improve performance.
  • Solution Development – developing outline designs and supporting the detailed design process.
  • Technical Leadership – providing direction and advice to clients to help them make better asset investment decisions.

Other required attributes include a demonstrable track record of technical achievement and client satisfaction within the water industry, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, a positive outlook, an approachable manner, strong relationship building with internal staff and external clients, flexibility, strong multi‑tasking and prioritisation skills, and a full clean UK driving licence.

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of five years or longer.
