Overview

Shape the future of our cities and environments. We are seeking a Clean Water Process Engineer to join AtkinsRéalis as an Associate Director in the Design & Advanced Technology (D&AT) Practice. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering cutting-edge projects to Water market clients, with opportunities to work on landmark engineering projects domestically and internationally. This role involves leading technical design work and supporting the project lifecycle across client-side and construction-phase activities.

We foster a diverse and inclusive environment and offer hybrid working with 3 days per week in office/site-based work. This position is based in Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle offices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Clean Water Process Engineers to deliver technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects, following relevant national and project-specific design codes and standards to high-quality levels.
  • Lead the development of project design deliverables for Clean Water Process aspects of complex multi-disciplinary projects and collaborate with the project management team to manage time and budgets to key milestones.
  • Manage production, review, and approval of technical deliverables such as design reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.
  • Provide technical leadership within the discipline for the regional and national D&AT practice and contribute to practice-wide initiatives and best-practice improvements.
  • Grow, develop, and manage Clean Water Process Engineering capabilities within the regional and/or national practice.
  • Work independently in challenging situations, exercising judgment to solve difficult problems and guiding junior team members.
  • Advise clients, operations, project, or service activities within project teams and wider D&AT Practice initiatives.
  • Manage or collaborate on technical aspects of bid proposals and work with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
About you
  • Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or equivalent;
    Chartered Chemical/Process Engineer.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale Clean Water Process engineering design delivery for a design consultancy, including within multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Broad knowledge of drinking water treatment processes and principles, including conventional and advanced treatment technologies.
  • Exemplary communication skills to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Expert knowledge of current design codes and standards and industry best practices, including CDM Regulations.
  • Experience in the UK Water market is preferred.
  • Proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork across projects and the D&AT practice.
  • Comfort liaising with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.
