Project Manager – Mechanical/Metalwork

C. The Civil Works Alliance (CWA), appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together the leading delivery contractors – Laing O’Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty – to deliver the civils scope which includes Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager specialising in metalwork to support the successful delivery of the Sizewell C Project. In this role you will take the lead in delivering the metal structures package within the Main Civil Works scope of the project, overseeing the safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery of critical mechanical works. You will work alongside engineering, commercial and planning teams to ensure all aspects of the metalwork package are executed to programme, cost and technical standards, supporting the wider objectives of the Sizewell C construction phase.
Key Responsibilities- Review contractual requirements, clarify and resolve ambiguities and disseminate company obligations and scope of work to other functional departments.
- Set up and accurately maintain all project communications systems both internally and externally.
- Attend interface and progress meetings with the Client and subcontractors involved with the scope of work.
- Co‑ordinate internal meetings/reviews as required to meet project‑specific objectives.
- Plan progress and report as required by CWA and the Client.
- Communicate potential/actual constraints to progress; accurately record delays; raise general concerns regarding QHS&E, engineering or other operational issues.
- Liaise with the Client regarding site integration testing and/or off‑site testing activity.
- Communicate requirements to affected CWA departments.
- Issue monthly management reports, financial and progress to the Senior Project Manager.
- Manage the project team personnel in order to meet project objectives.
- Support the development, training and appraisal of project team members.
- Work with the client to gain clarification and resolution of ambiguities and disseminate the CWA’s obligations and scope of work to other functional departments.
- Provide operational feedback to the Engineering Department to enable the Engineering Manager to make informed decisions regarding design changes and improvements.
- Track record of delivering projects within the mechanical/pre‑fabricated metal field.
- Recognised project management qualification(s) (e.g. APMP).
- Previous experience in project management in a manufacturing/mechanical environment.
- Multi‑disciplined technical knowledge relevant, including an understanding of legislative requirements.
- Well organised and self‑directed.
- Working knowledge of industry Control of Work processes and tools.
- Capable of interpreting detailed engineering drawings – RAMS – ITPs.
- Strong fabrication and welding background in a workshop environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of managing third‑party multi‑disciplined teams on behalf of the client.
- Degree in engineering or a related manufacturing subject.
- Recognised project management qualification(s) (e.g. APMP).
