Our client, a leading international consultancy in the engineering sector, is currently seeking a Sustainable Drainage Engineer to join their growing Transport & Infrastructure team. Based in either Manchester or Mold, this permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse and impactful projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver project outputs in line with client specifications and relevant standards

Prepare and review technical documentation, including drainage strategies and Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs)
Liaise with clients, authorities, and third parties

Lead project delivery for your discipline, including delegation and supervision of junior staff

Review and approve designs, including those prepared by others

Support contract administration and post-completion activities where required

Contribute to programme management, ensuring delivery to time and quality expectations

Maintain strong collaboration within the wider team

Job Requirements:

Essential:

BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or a relevant degree with water/flood risk experience

Experience working with key stakeholders such as Local Planning Authorities, LLFAs, and the Environment Agency Strong experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies

Ability to manage project delivery and maintain client relationships

Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety in design

Experience working in fast-paced infrastructure or design environments

Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g. Micro Drainage, Info Drainage, Causeway Flow, AutoCAD)
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Professional membership (ICE, CIHT, CIWEM, or similar)
Experience managing project budgets and financial performance

Knowledge of BIM principles and Common Data Environments (e.g. SharePoint)

Experience with utility coordination and clash detection

Understanding of UK planning policy (NPPF and Planning Practice Guidance)

Experience with SAB applications and Flood Risk Activity Permits (FRAPs)
Ability to interpret hydrological and hydraulic modelling outputs
