The Opportunity We are seeking a Concrete Materials Specialist to join Arup’s Materials team, part of our Specialist Technology, Analytics and Research group. This is an opportunity to strengthen our concrete materials discipline and support our existing capability in providing specialist concrete materials and technology advice to internal and external clients this role you will:
Provide technical advisory input across concrete technology, concrete durability, low carbon concrete strategies, problem investigation, specification writing and review.
Contribute to research projects and support innovative approaches to concrete and related materials.
Work across a varied range of buildings and infrastructure projects, from short advisory conversations through to being an integral part of project teams.
Help clients optimise the performance and life cycle management of concrete assets.
Collaborate with internal and external clients globally, with occasional overseas travel where required.

Is this role right for you? We'd like to hear from you if:
You are educated to at least degree level in a relevant subject such as civil, structural or materials engineering; a relevant doctorate would be advantageous but is not essential.
You have a strong foundation in concrete technology, relevant standards and concrete construction, with a clear interest in specialising further in this field.
You bring knowledge and experience of concrete durability, deterioration mechanisms and service-life modelling techniques.
You understand low carbon concrete, including traditional and alternative cementitious materials.
You have strong report writing and presentation skills, can work independently, and are willing to engage with standards committees and technical groups such as the Concrete Society, BSI, RILEM or fib.
You bring practical knowledge of concrete condition assessment and repair, supply chain or materials R&D experience, or knowledge of 3D concrete printing or other advanced construction methods.
