Job Role of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established process manufacturing business in Manchester. Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining a mixture of modern and legacy plant equipment through planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on mechanical role where you will work across a varied range of process equipment, helping to improve plant reliability, resolve recurring faults and support ongoing investment across the site. The business places a strong emphasis on safety, engineering standards and development, offering excellent opportunities to expand your technical skillset.

  • Mechanically biased maintenance background.
  • Level 3 Engineering qualification / apprenticeship (or equivalent).
  • Previous manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding ability.
Requirements of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
  • Reactive breakdown maintenance.
  • Mechanical fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • Pumps, valves and gearboxes.
  • Agitators and actuators.
  • Vessels and process equipment.
  • Basic pipe fitting.
  • Experience identifying and resolving mechanical blockages.
  • Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong Health & Safety awareness.
Desirable Requirements of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
  • HNC qualification or above.
  • Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical or Power industry experience.
  • Previous experience within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Continuous process manufacturing experience.
