Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Grid Connections Engineer to join our team and take ownership of grid connection and compliance activities across our growing portfolio of UK renewable energy projects. This is a hands‑on technical role for someone who understands the UK grid connection process from application through to approvals, commissioning and operational notification. The candidate MUST be able to handle projects and guide our customers where ever required to enable smooth approval process up to site energisation.

The role spans both technical and industry engagement, helping ensure that generation projects (especially renewables and storage) meet regulatory and grid code standards, contributing to support the transition to a low‑carbon energy system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate grid connection activities for UK renewable energy projects from initial application and connection offer through detailed design, technical approval, commissioning and energisation.
  • Act as the key technical interface withNESO, DNOs, TOs, OEMs, EPC contractors and external consultants, ensuring all connection milestones, technical deliverables and approval requirements are met.
  • Prepare, coordinate and manageG
    99 applications ensuring all required technical data, single‑line diagrams, protection information, equipment specifications and supporting studies are complete and consistent.
  • Manage DNO technical queries, comments and resubmissions through to formal technical acceptance/approval by engaging with power systems engineer’s.
  • Take ownership ofNESO ONCC/ONCP activities, maintaining compliance trackers and coordinating evidence required for EON, ION and FON.
  • Manage Grid Code compliance deliverables, technical checklists, testing requirements, model submissions, declarations and outstanding technical actions through to closure.
  • Develop and maintain project‑specific grid compliance matrices, G99 checklists, technical submission registers, model registers, comment trackers and approval trackers.
  • Ensure consistency across G99 submissions, grid studies, SLDs, protection settings, inverter/PPC parameters, DRC data, connection agreements and final as‑built documentation.
  • Challenge incomplete or technically inconsistent information, coordinate responses to DNO/NESO comments and ensure corrective actions are implemented within project timelines.
  • Identify and manage grid connection risks affecting project capacity, programme, cost and energisation.
  • Review connection offers and technical requirements, identify network constraints and reinforcement requirements, support connection strategy decisions, and proactively resolve technical issues to ensure projects progress toward technical approval, energisation and commercial operation.
  • Take ownership of grid-related actions while supporting colleagues across disciplines, contributing to problem‑solving, technical reviews and project decision‑making to ensure successful delivery of projects within programme, budget and compliance requirements
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3-4 years of experience working in the UK renewable energy Industry
  • Strong understanding of steady state studies and compliance studies requirement in the UK.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
