Commissioning Manager MEP

Commissioning Manager A forward-thinking principle MEP services contractor with a reputation for delivering complex projects to the highest standards, is looking for an experienced Commissiomning Manager. This could someone already estabslished in this kind of role or somebody with experience managing commissioning stages and have a desire to lead a commissioning division. The mission is simple: to create a seamless, fully integrated commissioning process that ensures every project delivered performs exactly as designed, from day one.

This person will collaborate between design, installation, and commissioning teams, and build long-term trust with our internal and external stakeholders. As our first in-house MEP Commissioning Manager, you'll be the driving force behind establishing our commissioning function from the ground up. You'll shape our processes, set the standards, and lead commissioning activities across a diverse portfolio of projects in the North/North West.

Your work will directly influence building performance, client satisfaction, and our ability to deliver projects that exceed expectations. What You'll Do Develop and implement an in-house commissioning strategy, processes, and documentation. Plan, coordinate, and oversee commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, and public health systems on live projects.

Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and site teams to ensure commissioning requirements are integrated from the earliest stages. Manage commissioning programmes, ensuring alignment with project timelines and client expectations. Carry out site inspections, witness testing, and performance verification. Produce detailed commissioning reports, O&M manuals, and handover documentation. Build and mentor a small commissioning team as the function grows.

Liaise directly with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project delivery. Experience needed Proven experience in MEP commissioning management within building services, ideally across commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting controls, BMS, and public health systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and commissioning plans. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills—able to influence and collaborate at all levels. A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a passion for delivering quality.
