The Role This is a broad, hands-on engineering position responsible for the development of sophisticated diagnostic and medical technology products. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and delivering hardware, embedded systems and supporting software tools, whilst collaborating closely with scientists, quality specialists, manufacturing teams and fellow engineers. Combining technical depth with product ownership, the role spans concept development, prototyping, verification, manufacturing transfer and ongoing product improvement.

It offers the opportunity to work on challenging multidisciplinary projects where innovation, problem-solving and practical engineering expertise are highly valued. Main Duties The Senior Product Development Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of product development activities including:
Leading electronic product development activities from concept and technical requirements through design, verification, release and manufacturing support. Designing mixed-signal electronic systems, including analogue and digital circuitry, sensing technologies, power management and embedded hardware. Creating schematics, PCB layouts and engineering documentation to support robust and manufacturable product designs. Developing embedded firmware and device control solutions to support system functionality and performance.

Building prototypes, conducting testing activities and troubleshooting complex system-level engineering challenges. Developing software tools for data analysis, signal processing, automation and engineering investigations. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical engineering, scientific development, quality assurance and manufacturing. Supporting design verification, compliance activities, product industrialisation and continuous improvement initiatives. The Successful Candidate This opportunity would suit an experienced engineer who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with product ownership and thrives within innovative, fast-paced development environments.

The successful candidate is likely to bring: A proven track record of developing complex electronic or embedded products from concept through to manufacture. Strong experience in electronic hardware design, including analogue, digital or mixed-signal systems.

Experience with PCB development, embedded systems and firmware engineering. Software development capabilities for engineering, automation, data analysis or product support applications. Practical experience testing, debugging and optimising complex products and systems. The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Previous experience within medical devices, diagnostics, scientific instrumentation, biotechnology or other regulated industries would be advantageous.
