Trainee Accountant

Ascent Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a fantastic Financial Services business in Manchester City Centre, searching for a Trainee Accountant.

This is a great entry-level opportunity for an ambitious graduate or early-career professional looking to build a long-term career in finance within a growing and well-established business.

You’ll join a supportive finance team, gain broad exposure across core accounting processes, and receive full study support towards a professional qualification.

This is a hands‑on role that will give you experience across multiple areas of finance, including:

• Supporting with reviews, reconciliation and validation
• Financial Analysis and stakeholder management
• Assisting with monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Purchase ledger and staff expenses processing
• Banking activity, including single and batch payments
• Maintaining accurate financial records and posting journals
• Supporting audits and ad-hoc finance queries
• General finance and administrative support, with exposure to tax work

• A numerate degree (finance, economics, accounting, maths or similar) preferred
• Strong attention to detail and numerical ability
• Good Excel and analytical skills and confidence with Microsoft Office
• Organised, proactive, and keen to learn
• Clear communication skills and a positive attitude

• Full study support towards a professional qualification (post‑probation)
• Exposure to a wide‑ranging finance role in a regulated environment

• Salary - up to £28,000
