As a Financial Accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring we have the robust financial insight, accurate reporting and strong governance needed to support major investment, maintain public confidence and help Greater Manchester make informed, future‑shaping decisions.

Your Role

As our Financial Accountant, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate financial records, statutory financial statements and high quality external reporting for TfGM. You’ll provide expert technical accounting advice, support smooth and professional audit processes, and ensure compliance with the latest financial accounting standards.

About Us

Our Financial Shared Services team provides the strong financial foundations needed to deliver the Bee Network and support Greater Manchester’s wider transport ambitions.

We manage financial records, statutory reporting, technical accounting, audit coordination and compliance for TfGM and a range of partners, ensuring public funds are used responsibly, transparently and in line with regulatory requirements.

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our financial information is accurate, robust and aligned to the highest professional standards, enabling TfGM to plan effectively, make confident decisions and deliver services that make a real difference across Greater Manchester.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Extensive experience of using computerised accounting systems, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Strong technical accounting experience, including up‑to‑date knowledge of financial accounting standards relevant to TfGM, and experience of working with external parties, particularly auditors and financial institutions.
  • A high level of accuracy in preparing financial analysis, statements and supporting working papers.
  • A full professional accounting qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACA or ACCA).
