Payroll Specialist

The Interim Payroll Officer will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance. This role in Salford offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a fast‑paced accounting and finance department.

• End to end processing of payroll — fortnightly and monthly.
• Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner for all employees.
• Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation and company policies.
• Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
• Maintain and update payroll records, ensuring data integrity.
• Collaborate with the accounting and finance team to reconcile payroll accounts.
• Generate payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.
• Assist with end‑of‑year payroll activities, including P60 and P11D preparation.
• Support the rollout of new payroll systems including data migration, testing, and training.
• Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and implement necessary adjustments.

• Previous experience in payroll processing within a professional environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems and relevant legislation.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data handling.
• Proficiency with accounting and payroll software.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

• Salary between £30,000 to £40,000 dependent upon experience.
