We are currently looking for a Lead Underwriter to join our Underwriting Centre in Manchester on a hybrid basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead initiatives that enhance our portfolio whilst having a large contribution to coaching and developing others.

You’ll make an impact by:
  • Enhance portfolio performance and profitability, focusing on underperforming products, broker accounts and large cases, ensuring delivery of Op Plan targets and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow market share and customer value, supported by detailed analysis of revenue and profit performance and solutions to address underperforming areas.
  • Strengthen technical performance across the team by supporting training, licence progression and the development of underwriting skills in line with business strategy.
  • Drive improvements to the Broker journey through reduced referrals, excellent communication, effective collaboration and adherence to underwriting standards and governance frameworks.
  • Monitor and report on performance outcomes, maintain insight into competitive and market developments, and take accountability for ongoing personal development to maximise contribution.
Your skills and experience:
  • Extensive Commercial UW experience within Property / Commercial Combined.
  • Practical application of capability development solutions with extensive knowledge of portfolio management.
  • Good Problem solving skills with the ability to think strategically, whilst delivering department wide technical solutions linked to improvement activity or the implementation of new solutions.
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced coaching and development skills, with experience in providing technical training to support knowledge progression
