Position: Employment Tax Assistant Manager

Employment Tax Assistant Manager, Big 4 – Manchester / Hybrid £45,000-£65,000 (DOE) + Benefits + Clear Progression Path

Role Overview

As an Employment Tax Consultant / Senior Consultant, you will work closely with senior leadership and a high‑performing advisory team, delivering complex employment tax advice to clients ranging from fast‑growing mid‑market businesses to large multinationals. You will support and lead on advisory projects, HMRC interactions, due diligence work, remuneration reviews, and technical research, and will have opportunities to take ownership of relationships and support business development as you progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients in understanding complex tax legislation and HMRC interpretations
  • Support employment tax aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence
  • Research case law and prepare technical analyses
  • Advise on employee remuneration: salary, equity, benefits, expenses
  • Manage HMRC liaison and dispute work
  • Draft client advice, reports, and HMRC correspondence
  • Participate in client meetings and lead where appropriate
  • Support junior team members and contribute to an inclusive team culture
Qualifications & Experience
  • ATT qualified, with either ACA/CTA part‑qualified or qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of employment tax legislation and its application
  • Excellent communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage workload under pressure
  • Experience engaging directly with clients and contributing to business development
  • A team‑first mindset with the ability to build relationships at all levels
