Purpose of the Role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It serves as a bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long‑term success.

Accountabilities
  • Manage client relationships, identify their financial goals, challenges and risk tolerance, and support analysis of data from various sources.
  • Research industry trends, regulatory landscape and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design customized solutions that address the client's specific needs, incorporating bank products and services.
  • Communicate the value proposition, justify recommendations and negotiate terms beneficial for both client and bank.
  • Provide guidance on financial decisions, expert investment advice, risk and wealth‑management strategies, and updates on market trends.
  • Assess financial, legal and operational risks and implement measures to minimise potential losses.
  • Document all client interactions, transactions and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, revenue and other metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management.
Key Accountabilities
  • Origin new business: identify, develop and secure new private banking relationships through referrals, internal networks and corporate sources.
  • Achieve personal objectives and team targets for new clients, assets and revenue.
  • Maintain the highest levels of client service and delivery.
  • Act as key contact for banking products, credit advice and client queries.
  • Deliver high‑quality bespoke advice, maximising value for clients and negotiating the best commercial outcome.
  • Serve as interface between the client and Barclays group functions (Wealth Advisory, Discretionary Portfolio Management, Investment Advisory, Global Investment & Solutions).
  • Provide world‑class financial solutions and discuss markets, issues and opportunities with clients.
  • Fully utilise banker tools, systems and platforms, challenge current standards and continually improve quality.
  • Engage with digital technologies, products and solutions relevant to the wealth business.
Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain effective introductory relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across the organisation and externally to drive performance.
  • Act as a strong team player and self‑starter.
  • Influence colleagues and contacts to secure positive outcomes for clients and the business.
Decision‑Making & Risk Management
  • Apply analytical reasoning and judgement to solve problems and deliver high‑quality client advice and service.
  • Make informed, transparent decisions considering long‑term implications.
  • Take ownership of client‑impacting issues, resolve them and propose improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise‑Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays policies.
  • Maintain adherence to AML/KYC, suitability, capital adequacy and record‑keeping standards.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong relationship‑building skills and experience managing private client individuals or families.
  • In‑depth understanding of client needs and expertise advising on a diverse range of wealth‑management solutions.
  • Experience controlling and monitoring risk within a client book.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, preferably retail‑regulated products and services for high‑net‑worth customers and asset management.
  • Full, up‑to‑date understanding of general financial market dynamics and concepts.
  • Aptitude and understanding of the digital landscape, and ability to manage clients’ changing needs in this area.
  • Knowledge of relevant international markets.
