Salary negotiable depending on experience About the Opportunity We are working with a leading UK organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Credit Control Consultant to join their finance function on an initial six-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior credit professional to join a busy and evolving finance team, providing specialist support during a period of increased workload, finance systems implementation and year-end preparation.
The role is designed for an experienced Credit Controller who enjoys managing complex accounts, resolving challenging issues and acting as a technical point of support within a wider finance function. This is not a people management position; instead, the successful candidate will provide expertise, guidance and hands-on support across complex credit control activities.
The Role Working closely with senior finance stakeholders, you will take ownership of key areas of the credit control function, including managing high-value client accounts, resolving complex queries and supporting process improvements. A key element of the role will be managing large and complex customer accounts, including significant debtor exposure, ensuring accurate reconciliations, effective query resolution and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities Managing a portfolio of complex, high-value client accounts, including accounts with significant debtor exposure. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders. Taking ownership of complex account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding issues. Managing and resolving escalated credit control queries and customer account issues. Reviewing and resolving Applications for Payment (AFP) queries. Investigating timesheet discrepancies and resolving billing issues.
Managing timesheet split allocations and associated debtor queries. Supporting cash allocation processes and ensuring debtor ledger accuracy. Assisting with finance systems testing as part of an ongoing implementation, including debtor ledger, self-billing and cash posting processes. Performing detailed account reconciliations and supporting the resolution of aged debt. Supporting month-end and year-end finance activities. Identifying opportunities to improve credit control processes and increase efficiencies.
Providing technical support and guidance to colleagues within the Credit Control function. Acting as a senior point of contact for complex credit-related matters. Supporting the wider finance leadership team during a key period for the business. About You We are looking for an experienced credit professional who has operated within a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is comfortable managing complex accounts with significant financial exposure.
You will have the confidence to take ownership of challenging situations, investigate issues thoroughly and work collaboratively with both internal teams and external customers. You will ideally have:
Significant experience within Credit Control, Accounts Receivable or Collections. Experience managing complex, high-value customer accounts. Strong technical understanding of credit control processes and debtor management. Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills. Experience resolving complex billing, invoicing and payment queries. Experience working with large customer accounts and multiple stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability. The ability to work autonomously and make an immediate impact.
Experience supporting finance systems implementation or testing would be advantageous. Previous leadership or supervisory experience would be beneficial but is not essential. The key requirement is someone with strong technical credit control expertise who can provide immediate support and add value to the finance function. What's on Offer? Six-month fixed-term contract with an immediate start. Hybrid working based in Salford.
Opportunity to work within a large and established organisation. Exposure to complex, high-value customer accounts. Involvement in finance systems implementation and year-end activity. A technically challenging role where your experience will have a direct impact. If you are an experienced Credit Control professional looking for a senior interim opportunity where you can make an immediate contribution, we would love to hear from you.
