The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a dynamic public sector organisation, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial management, reporting and business partnering services.

Working closely with the Financial Controller and key stakeholders across the organisation, you will play a pivotal role in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, financial controls and continuous improvement of finance processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong management accounting experience who enjoys partnering with operational teams and driving financial performance.

• Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Provide finance business partnering support to budget holders and senior managers.
• Produce insightful financial reports, analysis and performance information.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Maintain robust financial controls, reconciliations and balance sheet integrity.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and payroll processes.
• Support cash management, treasury activities and banking reconciliations.
• Assist with statutory accounts, audit requirements and government reporting.
• Develop and improve financial systems, reporting tools and accounting processes.
• Provide financial advice to stakeholders to support effective decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with public sector financial regulations, policies and governance requirements.
• Part-qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or CIPFA).
• Previous management accounting experience within a complex organisation.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent Excel and financial systems knowledge.
• Experience producing management information and financial analysis.
• Strong stakeholder management and finance business partnering skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Public sector or local government finance experience.
• Experience improving financial processes and controls.
• Knowledge of treasury, cash management and balance sheet management.
• Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting.

• Part-qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or CIPFA).
