Commercial Finance Manager | PE-Backed Technology SME | Manchester

Sellick Partnership is working exclusively with a PE-backed SME technology business based in Manchester, as they look to appoint a Commercial Finance Manager to join their growing finance function.

This is a highly visible role, sitting right at the centre of commercial decision-making. You'll take ownership of the profitability, cost and workforce models that shape strategy, and play a leading part in the annual planning cycle — a strong opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to step up into a role with genuine influence at leadership level.

Location: Manchester — hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office

Reporting to: Finance Director

What you'll be doing:
Planning & Forecasting
  • Take the lead on the annual budget cycle and ongoing reforecasts, pulling together input from across the commercial and operational functions
  • Develop and maintain reliable forecasting models, monitoring actuals against budget and unpicking the story behind any variances
  • Work closely with senior leaders to turn commercial ambitions into realistic, deliverable financial targets
Profitability & Cost Analysis
  • Build and own models that give a clear view of margin performance across products, clients and business units
  • Dig into what's driving costs and flag opportunities to sharpen profitability and efficiency
  • Provide scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support pricing, investment and other key commercial calls
Workforce Planning & Insight
  • Maintain headcount and resourcing models that connect people plans to cost and capacity
  • Deliver accurate, timely reporting and KPIs that translate raw data into meaningful commercial insight
  • Build out dashboards and reporting packs that feed into monthly reviews and board discussions
What you'll bring:
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with solid post-qualification experience in a commercial finance setting
  • A track record of owning budgeting, forecasting and modelling in a commercially-driven business
  • Advanced Excel skills are a must; familiarity with BI/reporting tools would be a bonus
  • Confident stakeholder management — able to hold your own with senior non-finance leaders
  • A sharp commercial mind, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
The details:
  • Manchester — hybrid, 2 days per week in the office
