About the Team
The Private Tax team at EY serves entrepreneurial, owner‑managed, PE backed, and AIM listed businesses, family offices, private equity and hedge fund principals, large landed estates, and high‑profile professional partnerships, providing a broad range of tax advisory services including cash tax savings, value creation, reorganisations, international tax advisory, transactions and ongoing maintenance of client tax structures.
The OpportunityThis is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join EY’s specialist Management Taxes and Transactions team based in London, Manchester, Glasgow or Edinburgh. The successful candidate will work with our existing clients and intermediaries, building and expanding their network and playing a key role in winning new business.
Ideally candidates will have knowledge of the issues impacting management teams. Candidates without specific management taxes knowledge are also encouraged to apply, given the wide and diverse nature of the role and team that you would be working in. We have successfully integrated individuals from private client, employment taxes and corporate tax backgrounds in the past.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with clients
- Proactive business development to win new work
- Manage the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects for clients, ensuring technical excellence and a practical, business‑driven approach
- Provide development support to junior members of the team through effective supervision, coaching and mentoring
- Contribute to people initiatives, including retaining and training our team
- Client driven and strategically and commercially aware
- Strong tax technical skills
- Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to develop quality outputs for clients
- Negotiation skills, able to sustain opinion and handle challenges
- Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
- Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
- Excellent communicator in a range of situations, both written and oral
- Good knowledge of advising individuals and/or companies including AIM listed, PE backed, family‑owned and OMB or experience in implementing management incentive plans or share option plans
- ACA, CTA, Tax Inspector with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification or breadth of knowledge equivalent to a Tax specialist qualification
- Strong tax technical skills
- Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
- Experience of coaching and developing more junior staff
- Project management skills – plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget
- Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically
- Team player – ability to integrate with new teams quickly
- Outgoing with good relationship skills
- The ability to deliver quality output in a timely and efficient manner
