The Senior Credit Risk Technical Specialist
- Capital is a key technical role within Risk Modelling & Measurement, providing specialist expertise in credit risk capital, regulatory capital interpretation and credit risk analytics. Working closely with other Risk areas, Finance, Treasury and wider business functions, the role is key to translating complex regulatory requirements into clear internal specifications, processes, and calculation.

The role holder will support the Society's understanding and management of credit risk capital requirements across lending portfolios, including significant regulatory developments such as Basel 3.1. Acting as a recognised subject matter expert for credit risk capital, risk weighted assets (RWA), capital adequacy and prudential regulation, the role will help shape lending strategy, portfolio management decisions and future business opportunities.

Senior Credit Risk Technical Specialist
- Capital will take ownership of end-to-end capital processing and analysis across lending portfolios, supporting the delivery of regulatory returns, RWA reporting and capital insight. The role will help ensure regulatory requirements are effectively interpreted and embedded, while providing expert input into capital adequacy, CET1 performance, product development and lending strategy. The role holder will also work closely with auditors, regulators and senior governance committees to support robust decision-making and regulatory compliance.

Operating within a collaborative and people-focused team, the role holder will lead technical analysis, provide regulatory interpretation, support committee reporting and influence senior stakeholders through evidence-based insight. We operate on a team-led hybrid approach with at least one day per week in either the Coventry or Manchester office.

About You

You're an experienced Credit Risk Capital, Credit Risk Analytics or Regulatory Risk professional who enjoys turning complex regulatory and technical requirements into clear business insight. You'll be confident influencing stakeholders, challenging thinking constructively and helping shape lending and capital decisions through robust analysis and expert judgement.

For this role you'll need to have:

  • Strong experience in Credit Risk, Regulatory Capital, Prudential Risk or Credit Risk Analytics within a financial services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory capital frameworks, including Basel 3.1, and an understanding of Standardised and/or IRB approaches.
  • Experience analysing and interpreting credit risk capital, RWA movements and portfolio performance to support business decision-making.
  • Knowledge of credit risk models and their practical application within lending, capital or impairment environments.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical analysis through reports, presentations and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across Risk, Finance, Treasury and wider business functions.

Experience in these areas would be helpful:

  • COREP reporting, Pillar 3 disclosures or wider regulatory reporting requirements.
  • IFRS 9, IRB models or Post Model Adjustments (PMAs).
  • SAS, SQL, Python or other analytical and reporting tools.
  • Engagement with auditors, regulators or external consultants.
