Accounts and Payroll Assistant

Backed by the key public sector, University and private sector partners, WMGC is now becoming a broader economic development vehicle for the region. We are adding innovative services to drive productivity and growth —including support for high potential businesses, growth capital attraction programme, and new focus on driving workforce development and future skills. The West Midlands Growth Hub is being launched in April 2026 as a new division of the West Midlands Growth Company with a new regional High Growth Service that will deliver relationship-based and specialised sector support to drive the growth of around 1,500 businesses that have been identified as having the potential to unlock future economic growth within our region.

This expansion provides unique opportunities for highly talented individuals to join our team. The role The purpose of this role is to provide support for the transactional and administrative side of the Finance function. Whilst the role will have a primary focus on accounts payable, sales ledger and payroll administration, WMGC is transitioning to a more collaborative approach and support will also be required across other areas of the Finance function, including general ledger and month-end activity.

Key accountabilities Sales Ledger:
Invoice entry, debtor management and sales ledger inbox management. Purchase Ledger:
Credit card management (Equals), temporary card requests (VCN), reviewing staff expenses, Uber requests and assisting with invoice processing. Payroll Administration:
Creating and amending staff payroll profiles, actioning HMRC notices (tax code changes, student loan notices and similar) and answering general payroll queries that come into the payroll inbox. General:
Fixed asset monitoring and general support to the wider Finance team.
