The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function while also supporting wider business operations, driving process improvements, and helping to optimise business systems. This role would suit someone who is happy to roll their sleeves up, get involved wherever needed, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment where no two days are the same.
The Role Reporting into Finance, you will be responsible for a broad range of duties including:
Managing sales ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations and cash allocation activities Supporting month-end processes and maintaining accurate financial records Liaising directly with customers to resolve queries and provide excellent service Building strong relationships with suppliers and supporting purchasing activities Working closely with colleagues across multiple departments to improve communication and processes Supporting order-to-cash and purchase-to-pay processes Identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and remove manual processes Assisting with finance systems development and process improvement projects Producing reports and insights using Excel and Power BI Providing support across the wider team when required About You We're looking for a well-rounded finance professional with strong accounting experience who enjoys being involved in the wider running of a business.
You'll be equally comfortable reconciling accounts, speaking with customers and suppliers, collaborating with operational teams, and identifying ways to improve processes. Most importantly, you'll have a proactive attitude and be willing to step in wherever needed to support a small, busy team. Essential Skills & Experience Strong accounting and transactional finance experience Experience across sales ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations and month-end support Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data Experience using Power BI for reporting and business insights Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise with customers, suppliers and colleagues across the business A hands-on approach and willingness to support outside of traditional finance duties Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Must have full right to work in the UK and have proven relevant UK experience
Desirable Experience Sage 200 experience Experience working with ERP systems Exposure to purchasing, stock control or operational processes Experience supporting systems enhancements or process improvement initiatives Previous experience working within an SME or small finance team environment
