Pensions Assistant Manager

Lead and shape pensions for over 41,000 colleagues across the UK and Ireland. Are you a pensions professional who thrives on balancing technical expertise, governance, and people leadership? GXO is looking for an Assistant Manager, Pensions to join our UK & Ireland Pensions team, based in Northampton with hybrid working. In this high-impact role, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day management of GXO's UK pension arrangements, working with major providers including Scottish Widows, Aviva, NHS Pension Scheme, Civil Service Pension Scheme, Zurich and Standard Life.

Supporting a pension portfolio that spans the UK, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland, you'll play a vital role in ensuring compliance with pensions legislation, monitoring regulatory and market developments, and delivering an exceptional service to thousands of members. You'll also lead and develop a small team, providing guidance, coaching and line management to two direct reports, while partnering with internal stakeholders and external providers to help shape the future of pensions at one of the world's leading supply chain organisations.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £55,000 per annum dependent on experience along with a benefits package. In addition, we offer days 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and the option to purchase additional days. Lead the day-to-day administration, governance and compliance of GXO's defined contribution arrangements, ensuring all activities meet legislative requirements Manage pension data, contributions, enrolment and re-enrolment processes, ensuring accurate and timely integration across payroll, My Benefits and pension provider systems Act as the pensions lead for TUPE transfers and business change projects, reviewing pension obligations, managing ELI data and supporting seamless onboarding and offboarding activities Partner with internal stakeholders, payroll, HR and external providers to implement system enhancements, develop operating procedures and continually improve pension service delivery Drive pension-related projects and cross-functional initiatives, providing expert guidance across the GXO Group while ensuring an exceptional service to colleagues and stakeholders What you need to succeed at GXO:
Strong knowledge of UK pensions legislation, including Defined Contribution (DC), Defined Benefit (DB) and auto-enrolment compliance, with a solid understanding of Pensions Regulator requirements Proven experience in DC pension administration, with exposure to DB schemes and public sector pensions desirable; APMI qualification (or equivalent) preferred Highly analytical with excellent attention to detail, numeracy and advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, lookups and pivot tables Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills, able to interpret complex information, influence decisions and build relationships at all levels Self-motivated and organised, with experience working across payroll and HR systems (ADP, Success Factors and Service Now desirable), a hands-on approach and the ability to perform under pressure We engineer faster, smarter, leaner supply chains.
