Financial Manager, Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Axon Moore are exclusively partnering with ambitious, rapidly growing business as they look to appoint a commercially astute, hands-on and resilient Finance Director. The organisation is entering a period of substantial expansion, with plans to double in size.
The business requires a strong financial leader who can navigate a challenging financial position, professionalise the finance function and provide the strategic and operational leadership needed to support sustainable growth.
You will take ownership of the financial strategy, addressing existing balance sheet challenges, strengthening liquidity and working capital management, and establishing robust cash flow forecasting. Develop a credible financial improvement plan that enhances profitability, financial resilience and long-term sustainability.
Partner closely with the founders and senior leadership team to support ambitious expansion plans. Provide financial oversight of significant new contracts, ensuring effective margin management, commercial analysis, resource planning and working capital support, translating strong revenue growth into sustainable profitability and cash generation.
Rebuild and professionalise the finance function:
Lead the transformation of the finance department, assessing existing capabilities, developing the team and implementing scalable financial processes, reporting disciplines and internal controls. Establish a high-performing finance function capable of supporting a significantly larger and more complex organisation.
Lead the selection and implementation of a new ERP system, replacing inefficient or fragmented processes with an integrated and scalable financial infrastructure. Improve management information, reporting accuracy, operational visibility and financial data to support better commercial decision-making.
Act as a trusted strategic partner to the founders and senior leadership team, providing constructive challenge, financial leadership and commercial insight within an entrepreneurial environment. Build credibility with shareholders, lenders and other key stakeholders, balancing ambitious growth objectives with appropriate financial discipline and commercial rigour.
Introduce robust budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting and financial controls, embedding greater accountability across the organisation. Strengthen contract profitability analysis, cost management, cash conversion and risk management, ensuring the business has the financial governance and operational infrastructure required to scale successfully.
This role will suit a Finance Director with experience of a founder-led, rapidly scaling SME, ideally someone who has navigated a financially distressed or under capitalised business whilst implementing systems, rebuilding finance teams and managing significant growth. They must be equally comfortable operating strategically at board level and getting into the detail of cash flow, contracts, controls and operational performance.
