The City Wide Implementation Lead is a key member of the Infrastructure and Environment team, within Manchester City Council’s Growth and Development Directorate.
The team develops strategies, secures investment, and delivers projects and programmes that support the city’s bold ambitions for sustainable growth and environmental improvement. They set the Council’s strategic objectives for transport, energy and clean air, and work collaboratively with departments such as Highways, Major Regeneration, and Housing, as well as external partners including Transport for Greater Manchester and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
In this role you will lead the team's input into sustainable transport project and programme delivery, ensuring projects are scoped, governed and delivered effectively, working across the Council and GM partners, engaging stakeholders and briefing senior leaders and elected members. The role is externally funded and may be extended to two years.
About the Candidate- Knowledge and understanding of the key economic, social and environmental policy issues and challenges facing cities and the role of local government.
- Ability to maintain focus and objectivity under various conditions and manage a multi-priority workload, progressing various ideas and plans concurrently.
- Experience defining, documenting and managing long‑term complex projects with significant business, political or high‑profile impact, and high‑risk dependencies.
- Experience evaluating and influencing policy and strategy initiatives developed by sub‑regional and local stakeholders.
- Creative thinking to proactively develop future scenarios and a range of new and original solutions that meet strategic needs.
