Are you ready to lead specialist therapy services at one of Europe's leading cancer centres? At The Christie, we're looking for a dynamic and compassionate Lead Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist to shape the future of oncology rehabilitation. This role sits within our newly created Directorate of Supportive Oncology, placing you at the heart of an innovative team driving excellence in patient care and quality of life.

- Is HCPC registered (Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy) with advanced clinical experience.

The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country. We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world;
chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years. We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
responsibilities
Clinical:
Provide expert assessment and management for oncology patients with complex rehabilitation needs. Act as a specialist resource, offering clinical advice, support for teaching, and training to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals. Contribute to complex MDT meetings and service-wide care planning, ensuring evidence-based practice. Lead the development, audit, and implementation of clinical guidelines, pathways, and treatment programmes. Be responsible for the overall quality of the PT and OT service, ensuring patient safety and clinical effectiveness is demonstrated by using evidence-based practice, outcome measures.
And fostering a culture of openness and learning. Ensure that the PT and OT services maintains accurate clinical documentation and uphold professional standards (HCPC, CSP, RCOT). Promote research, audit, and innovation in oncology rehabilitation, disseminating findings at local, regional, and national level.
Leadership & Management:
To be operationally and professionally responsible for the management and strategic direction of physiotherapy and occupational therapy, lymphoedema services and specialist AHPs ensuring professional and clinical standards are achieved.
