Job Description & How to Apply Below

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sports Physiotherapist to join the Manchester Movement Unit on a 0.8 FTE fixed-term contract for two years.

About the team:

The Manchester Movement Unit provides physiotherapy services to Manchester Metropolitan University staff and students, the local community, and private clients. We also deliver specialist support to Manchester Metropolitan University Sport (MMU Sport), the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), and Premier Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL).

As Manchester's only academic physiotherapy practice, we deliver evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and patient-centred care. Our team includes two highly specialist part-time Clinic Directors, a full-time Senior Sports Physiotherapist, and a full-time Physiotherapist, all working collaboratively across our services.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person who is keen to develop their skills while working alongside highly experienced clinicians. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of musculoskeletal and sports injury patients, including athletes supported through MMU Sport and TASS, football match officials from PGMOL, and private clients. The role will also involve providing emergency first aid cover at selected MMU Sport events and fixtures.

Working within this team, you will

  • Manage your clinical caseload, support the efficient day-to-day delivery of appointments and contribute to the ongoing development of a flexible and high-quality physiotherapy service.
  • Provide high quality assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and follow up care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive clinical records in line with HCPC standards of professional practice.
  • Be flexible and may be expected to work across a six-day week to provide a service across clinic operating hours, at the times of highest patient demand.
  • Work closely with experienced colleagues and benefit from a programme of professional development and support to help you achieve high standards of clinical practice.
  • Be supported to undertake practice educator training, allowing you to contribute to the supervision and development of physiotherapy students on clinical placement.
Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a highly committed and enthusiastic physiotherapist who is passionate about making a difference to people's lives.

Essential requirements:
  • A Chartered Physiotherapist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
  • Substantial post-graduate experience, including musculoskeletal and/or sports physiotherapy practice.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and physiotherapy skills, across a range of practice areas and settings.
  • A willingness to learn and be flexible in your approach to patient care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development and contributing to the ongoing growth and success of the Manchester Movement Unit.
Desireable requirements:
  • Level 4 Sports Massage qualification.
  • Level 2 Trauma Management qualification (for example, FA Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football or equivalent).
