Job overview

This is an exciting new post that will offer the post holder the opportunity to be part of a specialist CAMHS workstream that includes the inpatient CAMH service, Crisis Service and Community Eating Disorders Service. You will work with these three multi-disciplinary teams to undertake assessment and interventions for young people including those with diagnosed or suspected neurodivergence.

The post holder will support the teams shared understanding of the young person’s communication and social communication to aid treatment and interventions. Assessment may form part of a diagnostic pathway in conjunction with the services MDT. This will include supporting parents and the young person’s understanding of these differences and post diagnostic interventions.

The postholder will provide assessment and intervention, m anaging their own complex caseload and making autonomous decisions within the remit of their skills and training.

The post-holder duties will include contributing to multi-agency liaison, consultation and training of other professionals, and contribute to the management and development of the services.

We seek candidates who are adept at working independently and collaboratively and welcome candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job will include -

  • Take the lead in providing specialist speech and language assessments for young people accessing Galaxy House Inpatient Unit, Crisis Pathways and Community Eating Disorder Services.
  • To contribute to the standardised autism assessments including administering and scoring ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule).
  • To formulate cases based on direct assessment.
  • To provide age appropriate and evidence based intervention.
  • To provide specialist training and advice and consultation to colleagues and staff from other agencies.
  • To supervise junior staff as appropriate.
  • To develop care plans and communication passports, supporting the whole teams utilisation of communication aids that support the young persons individualised needs.
  • To work with the service specialist dietician to support nutrition.
