Job overview

NHS Greater Manchester's (NHS GM's) Population Health team is looking for a Business Support Officer to provide high-quality business and administration support, which is focused, flexible and timely, contributing to the objectives of a fast-moving programme of activity within the Greater Manchester Public Health Network (GMPHN).

Main duties of the job

The postholder will need to provide a full range of business support and administration services to meet the support needs of the GMPHN team, contributing to the delivery, monitoring, evaluation, and improvement of this service.

Working for our organisation

NHS GM plans and delivers joined-up services to improve the health and wellbeing of the population residing in Greater Manchester. Its goals include improving population health and healthcare outcomes, tackling inequalities, enhancing productivity and value for money, and supporting broader social and economic development.

This is achieved at various levels, including neighbourhood, place, combinations of places, and the Greater Manchester system.

The role is employed by NHS GM, within the Strategy, People and Partnerships directorate, but is wholly deployed to work as part of an integrated team under the leadership of the GMPHN, which is made up of the 10 Local Authority Directors of Public Health, the Associate Director of Population Health from NHS GM, OHID, and UKHSA.

The GMPHN's three core ambitions for 2026/27 are:

  • System Change: Maximise system-wide credibility, influence and impact.
  • Healthy People: Deliver pan-GM programmes to tackle the key causes or drivers of poor health.
  • Healthy Places: Take collaborative action to strengthen the building blocks of good health.
