Location: Burford, Oxfordshire or Radcliffe, Manchester with hybrid working with a minimum of two days per week in the office
We’re looking for a People & Culture Advisor to join our People & Culture team at Blue Cross on a 6 month fixed term basis. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll work closely with managers and colleagues across the organisation, providing practical advice, guidance and support on a wide range of people matters, while helping us continue to build an inclusive and collaborative One Blue Cross culture.

Are you an experienced HR professional with a strong background in Employee Relations? This role will support managers through Employee Relations matters, helping them navigate both informal and formal processes confidently and consistently.
You’ll work closely with managers and colleagues across the organisation, providing practical advice, guidance and support on a wide range of people matters. A key focus of the role is supporting managers through Employee Relations matters, and helping them navigate both informal and formal processes confidently and consistently.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional looking to make an immediate impact, working independently and confidently managing a varied caseload. The role offers flexibility to be based in either Burford or Manchester.
About youYou are an experienced HR professional with strong Employee Relations knowledge and the confidence to advise managers through a wide range of people matters. You are comfortable handling both informal and formal cases and can provide practical, balanced advice that supports positive outcomes while ensuring compliance with policy and employment legislation.
You have excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, enabling you to influence, challenge and support managers effectively. You are highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable working independently while collaborating as part of a wider team.
Most importantly, you enjoy helping managers navigate complex people issues and are able to quickly establish credibility and trust within a busy operational environment.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience- Previous experience of working in HR, throughout the employee life cycle
- Significant experience of advising and coaching managers through formal and informal Employee Relations cases, including sickness absence, grievance, disciplinary and capability matters
- Comfortable with numbers and experience of analysing and reporting data
- Excellent interpersonal and customer‑facing skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good attention to detail
- Great administration skills
- Proven ability to prioritise and organise work and projects within a busy, multi‑functioning role
- IT literate with MS Office, web‑based platforms, and databases
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Blue Cross values
- CIPD Level 3
- Experience of working with volunteers in an HR environment
- Experience of managing projects and development programmes
- Understanding of the demands of the voluntary sector
