Title:

HR Consultant
Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Fixed term
Location: Manchester (hybrid working available)

What will you be doing?

  • Providing high-quality HR advice and operational support to managers across a range of people matters, including employee relations, change management, absence, and performance management.
  • Advising managers on policy application and best practice, ensuring decisions are legally compliant, values-led and aligned to British Cycling’s ways of working.
  • Drafting and reviewing HR documentation, including letters, role profiles, , meeting notes and outcome correspondence.
  • Working closely with the People Team to progress casework, maintain accurate records and ensure timely follow-up on actions.
  • Supporting the implementation of people projects linked to organisational change, culture, engagement and workforce planning.
  • Building trusted relationships with managers and colleagues, offering pragmatic, balanced and commercially aware HR guidance.
  • Helping to identify opportunities to improve people processes, templates and ways of working so that the People Team continues to provide a clear, consistent and effective service.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong generalist HR experience, ideally gained in a complex, changing or fast-paced organisation.
  • Experience of managing employee relations casework and supporting organisational change.
  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, with the ability to apply this in a practical and proportionate way.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and professional documentation.
  • Confidence in advising and coaching managers, balancing empathy with sound judgement and organisational need.
  • A collaborative, discreet and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work at pace while maintaining attention to detail.
