Trainee Recruitment Consultant

Starting salary: £25,000 + uncapped commission

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit quietly behind a desk.

Portman Recruitment is looking for a hungry, well organised and confident person to Train as a Recruitment Consultant with our permanent recruitment team.

We already have vacancies secured with clients across social work, social care and children's residential services. Your job will be to speak with potential candidates, understand what they are looking for, and match them with the right opportunities.

This is a people-focused sales role. You will be on the phone, sending Whats Apps, emailing, using Linked In and building relationships every day. The more quality conversations you have, the more opportunities you create.

You will be responsible for:

• Speaking with candidates about live permanent vacancies
• Making daily outbound calls to new and existing candidates
• Using Whats App, email and Linked In to keep conversations moving
• Understanding candidate experience, salary expectations and availability
• Matching candidates to roles already secured by the business
• Keeping accurate notes and staying organised with follow-ups
• Building long-term relationships with candidates in specialist sectors
• Working closely with the team to generate interviews and placements

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a confident phone manner
• Is not afraid to pick up the phone
• Has call centre, sales, customer service or outbound calling experience
• Is organised and can manage a busy workload
• Has a positive, hungry attitude
• Wants to earn commission and progress
• Can handle rejection and keep going
• Communicates well by phone, Whats App, email and Linked In
• Wants to be part of a growing team
