Your

Amber Labs is seeking a talented and driven Content Designer to join our multidisciplinary team working on high‑impact digital services for government. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of public‑facing content and help deliver meaningful change through user‑centred design.

What You’ll Do

As our Content Designer, you’ll lead and deliver content strategy and execution across several critical government initiatives :

  • Content Migration & Rewrite :
Develop and implement a plan to migrate and rewrite content, while retiring legacy pages.
  • User Research & Testing :
Expand research capacity to test draft content, navigation, and forms with diverse users, building on MVP and service design work
  • Government Page Launch :
Prototype and launch the organisation page, ensuring it meets branding, tagging, and accessibility standards.
  • Licensing Discovery :
Conduct discovery‑lite work to support Day 1 branding updates (logo, naming, references) and produce a roadmap for future redevelopment aligned with government standards.
  • Governance & Training :
Create a content governance framework, publishing workflows, and deliver training to empower sustainable publishing practices.
  • SEO & Redirects :
Manage redirects and the decommissioning of the website to preserve traffic and user journeys.
  • Pre‑Launch Readiness :
Deliver a final checklist confirming all MVP content and publishing arrangements are in place for Day 1.
  • Future Planning :
Explore additional scope (e.g. holiday pay) to inform a post‑launch roadmap.
  • Comms Strategy :
Provide recommendations for internal and stakeholder communications to support the launch.
Your Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience designing content for central government or similar public sector platforms
  • Strong understanding of user‑centred design principles and accessibility standards
  • Experience with content migration, governance, and publishing workflows
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines including service design, research, and development
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Ability to communicate design rationale clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in agile, cross‑functional teams
  • A portfolio showcasing user‑centred design work in complex environments
Diversity & Inclusion
  • Valuing the unique experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds of all employees and creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and valued.
  • Prohibiting all forms of harassment, bullying, discrimination, and victimisation and promoting a culture of dignity and respect for all.
  • Educating all new hires on our Diversity and Inclusion policies and ensuring they are aware of their rights and responsibilities to create a safe and inclusive workplace.

By taking these steps, we are dedicated to building a workplace that reflects and celebrates the diversity of our employees and communities.
