Position: Website Coordinator for Centre for Crime and Youth Justice Research

Overview

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. The Centre for Crime and Youth Justice Research (CCYJR) at Manchester Met is a world-leading research centre dedicated to transforming the lives of justice‑experienced children and young people through evidence‑based research. We are experts in youth justice research, policy and practice.

Grounded in innovative and creative methodologies, our work places the voices and experiences of young people at its core. We influence and advocate for child‑centred policies and practices to promote meaningful change and systemic reform in youth justice systems globally. We are seeking a motivated and reliable student to take on the role of Website Coordinator for the research centre.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in digital communications, research dissemination, and academic engagement. The postholder will be responsible for the routine updating and general oversight of the research centre's website (), ensuring that content is accurate, current, and aligned with the centre's ongoing activities, projects, and events. Responsibilities include uploading new material, maintaining existing pages, and supporting the overall structure and presentation of the site.

The Website Coordinator will work closely with the centre's Social Media Manager to ensure coherence between website content and social media activity, helping to strengthen the centre's online presence and public profile.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Currently enrolled as a student (undergraduate or postgraduate).
  • Experience of using website platforms (e.g., Word Press, Drupal, or similar).
  • Experience creating, editing, or managing digital content (websites, blogs, newsletters, or online platforms).
  • Experience working in an academic, research, or higher education environment.
  • Previous involvement in digital communications, marketing, or outreach activities.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage routine updates and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when editing and publishing online content.
  • Good written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Basic digital literacy, including confidence using web‑based tools and platforms.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with others, particularly the Social Media Manager and research centre staff.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
  • Reliable and self‑motivated, with a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Professional and responsible attitude to handling institutional content.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Interest in digital communication within an academic or research context.
  • Interest in research dissemination and public engagement.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and good practice for web content.
  • Basic understanding of online engagement principles.
  • Experience coordinating content across multiple platforms (website and social media).
  • Creative approach to presenting information online.
Availability and Commitment

Dates:
Ongoing role – academic year.

Hours of Work:
Flexible around studies. Up to 5 hours per week.
