We looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Data Scientist to drive the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of data science solutions across a range of complex client engagements. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping a growing data capability, promoting best practice, mentoring practitioners, and fostering an innovative and collaborative culture.
You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful digital transformation projects that contribute to safer, smarter, greener, and healthier outcomes across the public and private sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of data science solutions.
- Take ownership of end-to-end delivery for complex data science services and applications.
- Build strong relationships with clients and third-party stakeholders, acting as a technical lead within your domain.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, product, and user‑centred design.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and assurance to less experienced team members.
- Support capability growth through recruitment, training, and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure solutions align with governance, security, and best practice standards.
- Experience designing and delivering cloud‑based data science solutions using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong programming capability in Python, R, or similar data science languages, with knowledge of software engineering best practices.
- Experience working with sensitive or regulated data, including awareness of data governance and protection principles.
- Proven experience leading the delivery and operational deployment of data science applications.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience.
- Consultancy or professional services experience.
- Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI application development, including chatbots and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) systems.
- Understanding of core software engineering principles such as testing, optimisation, and object‑oriented programming.
- Master’s degree or PhD in a STEM‑related field.
