We are looking for a Postgre

SQL database administrator with strong data‑modelling skills to join our team. The role includes managing a Postgres application data store across environments, working closely with development to define the data model for new data feeds, and owning the core data structures used within the application.

• Take responsibility for the application Postgre
  
  SQL database cluster across multiple environments, on cloud and on‑premises
• Monitor and tune the database to optimise performance
• Handle migration of data structures across database instances, including to offline environments
• Own the data models and manage the lifecycle of the data within the Postgres database
• Collaborate with data‑pipeline engineers and data scientists to ingest a wide range of data sources
• Manage security controls across environments, defining roles, permissions and row‑level security
• Work directly with the infrastructure team to configure installation and manage patching across all environments

• Experience as a Postgre
  
  SQL DBA, core development/maintenance and performance optimisation (sharding, partitions). Knowledge of extensions such as pgvector, PostGIS and AGE is very useful.
• Additional skills in Oracle or MSSQL are required.
• Proficiency in performance optimisation: index tuning, execution‑plan analysis, query optimisation and data partitioning.
• Backup and recovery: capability to define backup strategies based on environment constraints.
• Clustering: experience with managing database clusters and fail‑over strategies.
• Data modelling: designing, creating and managing schemas, tables and views to support the data models.
• Understanding of best practices for storing JSON objects within Postgre
  
  SQL.
• Clear communication and ability to collaborate with developers to define and implement data‑model requirements.
• SC clearance is required; DV as a target. Must have lived and worked in the UK continuously for the past 5–7 years.
