This role is on a 3 month contract - start date: 3rd August. There is the possibility of a permanent role after the contract comes to an end.
We are looking for an IT Support Technician to join our Managed Desktop Services team, supporting customers with the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of laptops, desktops, RPOS systems, and related hardware.
This is a hands‑on technical role where you will split your time between onsite visits and remote support, working to resolve issues quickly and keep customer systems running smoothly.
You will be part of a service‑led environment where quality, communication, and first‑time fix really matter.
What you will be doing:
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software faults across laptops, desktops, and peripheral devices
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems including Windows and other common platforms
- Supporting users onsite and remotely, providing clear and practical guidance
- Carrying out repairs, component replacements, and system upgrades
- Troubleshooting printers, connectivity issues, and RPOS hardware
- Completing accurate job records, service notes, and repair documentation
- Following data protection, backup, and security procedures
- Escalating more complex issues when required
- Maintaining high standards of customer service and communication
- Keeping up to date with hardware tools, technologies, and repair methods
A typical working pattern is Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30, with a one‑hour lunch break.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED- Proven experience in laptop or PC hardware repair or IT support
- Strong understanding of hardware, software, and operating systems (Windows experience essential, macOS or Linux beneficial)
- Experience using diagnostic tools and fault‑finding techniques
- Confident troubleshooting skills across hardware and basic networking issues
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
