Founding Data Engineer

Salary: £62, per year

• Strong Python and SQL skills
• MySQL experience
• API and SaaS integrations experience
• Cloud experience, with Google Cloud preferred and AWS also relevant

• Experience working in a marketing-led or commercially driven environment
• Strong understanding of the sales funnel and customer journey, ideally within SaaS, marketing platforms, marketplaces or recruitment businesses where data directly impacts acquisition, conversion and revenue

• Assess data quality, structure and flow
• Build scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL
• Model and transform data into clean, usable layers
• Define architecture and tooling
• Integrate APIs, CRM and SaaS tools
• Own how data is surfaced across the business
• Work closely with marketing, sales funnel and CRM data to help shape a future data-driven product and improve conversion and performance
• Make decisions on tooling and infrastructure, working through ambiguity and balancing speed with quality in a fast-moving environment

We are a well-backed startup building a platform that enables car dealerships to acquire vehicles directly from private sellers in a more efficient, data-led way. We are scaling quickly across the US, and this Founding Data Engineer role offers real ownership from day one with the opportunity to shape how data underpins both our product and business growth. We offer a 4-day working week from Monday to Thursday, hybrid working with Wednesdays from home, and an office moving into Manchester city centre.

The role is based in Bolton, moving to Manchester city centre, with 3 days onsite and a salary of up to 90,000 plus bonus and equity. We operate in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities evolve, requiring pragmatism, ownership and collaboration.
