Job title: Rubrik Backup Engineer
Day Rate: £400 to 450 per day - Outside IR35
Duration: 3-6 months initially
Location: Fully remote / WFH
Start Date: ASAP
RoleWe are looking for an experienced, hands-on Rubrik / Commvault Backup Engineer to support a fast-paced Rubrik rollout across VMware and Azure environments, migrating workloads from Commvault while maintaining business-as-usual backup operations.
This is a delivery-focused role requiring someone who can hit the ground running, work independently and collaborate effectively with international IT teams, so excellent communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Deploy and configure Rubrik Edge for on-premises VMware and Rubrik Cloud Cluster for Azure workloads.
- Migrate backup protection from Commvault to Rubrik, ensuring retention, recovery and service continuity.
- Configure backup policies, schedules and retention, validating protection through restore testing.
- Troubleshoot backup failures, resolve technical issues and provide BAU support across both platforms.
- Coordinate deployments with IT teams across the UK, EMEA and APAC.
- Track rollout progress, manage blockers and maintain clear technical documentation and handover records.
- Strong hands-on Rubrik experience, including Rubrik Edge, VMware and Azure Cloud Cluster deployments.
- Proven Commvault administration and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience migrating workloads between enterprise backup platforms.
- Solid VMware and Azure infrastructure knowledge.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across backup, storage, networking and infrastructure.
- Ability to work independently, deliver at pace and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive can-do approach
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects across international sites.
- Background in pharmaceutical, manufacturing or regulated environments.
- Relevant Rubrik, Commvault, VMware or Azure certifications.
