A leading specialist insurer is seeking an experienced Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter to join its growing division. This is a unique opportunity to move into a broader underwriting role where you'll have genuine influence over trading performance, business growth and underwriting outcomes. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll play a key role in supporting the continued development of a successful direct insurance proposition serving SMEs and professional businesses across the UK.
More than a traditional underwriting position, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to commercial decision‑making, enhance customer outcomes, and help shape the future direction of a growing and innovative insurance operation.
The Role- Take ownership of underwriting decisions across a range of Professional Indemnity risks.
- Review and assess referrals, providing technical guidance on more complex cases.
- Support profitable growth through sound underwriting judgement and commercial decision‑making.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across underwriting, trading and leadership teams.
- Monitor business performance and contribute ideas to support sustainable portfolio growth.
- Help identify opportunities to improve underwriting processes, customer experience and trading performance.
- Utilise underwriting insight, market knowledge and data to support business objectives.
- Strong Professional Indemnity underwriting experience gained within an insurer or MGA environment.
- Experience handling referral business and more complex underwriting decisions.
- Good understanding of portfolio performance, underwriting controls and risk management.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance growth and profitability objectives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative approach with the desire to contribute beyond day‑to‑day underwriting responsibilities.
