Assistant Underwriter

If you've previously worked in D&O/management liability and you're wondering when you're actually going to get the opportunity to become an Underwriter, this could be worth a conversation.

This isn't an Assistant Underwriter role where the expectation is that you'll still be assisting Underwriters three years from now.
You'll be joining the Manchester financial lines team of a major global specialty insurer, working alongside experienced Underwriters and being given the exposure, responsibility and development you need to progress your own underwriting career.

You'll be involved throughout the underwriting process - from initial submission and analysis through to binding - while building your own relationships with some of the market's major broking partners.
You'll get exposure to D&O and wider management liability risks, portfolio underwriting, volume deals and panel placements.
More importantly, there is a clear route to becoming an Underwriter.
That means greater responsibility, stronger earning potential and considerably more career options in the years ahead - without needing to leave the business to find them.

• Supporting D&O/management liability risks from submission through to binding
• Working directly with Brokers and developing your own market relationships
• Preparing financial and underwriting analysis
• Working on portfolio business, volume deals and panel placements
• Supporting underwriting decisions and developing your technical capability
• Maintaining accurate risk, exposure and premium information
• Getting increasingly involved in the commercial side of underwriting as your experience develops

You’ll probably have previous experience within management liability/D&O underwriting and already be comfortable operating at Assistant Underwriter level.
Technical ability matters, but so does ambition.
We’re looking for someone analytical, commercially minded and confident dealing with Brokers who wants to develop beyond the Assistant Underwriter title.
