Our client is a long-established, independent commercial insurance broker based in Rotherham. They are looking for a bright, personable and ambitious individual to join their team as a Trainee Commercial Insurance Broker.

No previous insurance experience is required. Instead, they are looking for someone with the right attitude: somebody who is keen to learn, enjoys dealing with people, has good communication skills and wants to build a genuine long-term career.

Commercial insurance is a huge and varied industry. Almost every business, from a small local company to a major multinational, needs insurance. As a broker, you'll learn how different businesses operate, understand the risks they face and help arrange the insurance protection they need. It can also offer something increasingly valuable: career stability. Businesses continue to need insurance through good economic times and bad, making the industry relatively resilient compared with many other sectors.

And this isn't a role where you'll simply be given a desk and expected to work everything out for yourself. You'll receive extensive one-to-one training from experienced insurance professionals, gradually learning about the many different types of commercial insurance and how to look after business clients.

You'll learn how to speak with clients, understand their businesses, assess their insurance requirements, approach insurers, negotiate cover and help put together appropriate insurance programmes. As your knowledge and confidence develop, so will your responsibilities.

The company will also pay for you to study towards recognised Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications, allowing you to build professional credentials alongside your practical experience.

You don't need insurance experience, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to do for the next 40 years. You might have recently completed A-levels, a college course or a university degree and simply be looking for an interesting career with genuine prospects.

What matters more is that you are bright, enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn. You should be comfortable talking to people, have good written and verbal communication skills and be keen to develop professionally.
