Placing the best legal talent in law firms in Defendant Injury & InsuranceA leading Legal 500 law firm is seeking an experienced Solicitor to join its Catastrophic Injury & Large Loss team in Manchester.
The team advises on all aspects of complex personal injury claims — from liability investigations and policy coverage assessments to quantum analysis across multi-track matters. This role will involve supporting on high-value large loss cases spanning motor, EL/PL and indemnity claims.
You’ll work closely with a Partner on significant, high-value files, managing elements of cases with a high degree of autonomy. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of your own large loss matters and play a key role in developing client relationships through training delivery and case clinics.
Career progression is actively encouraged — you’ll be given regular exposure to complex work, client contact and the chance to mentor junior team members, including NQs. Advocacy is supported for those who wish to develop in that area.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting on a diverse caseload of motor, EL/PL and indemnity large loss claims
- Acting on behalf of major insurers and self-insured commercial organisations
- Conducting investigations, taking witness statements and reviewing medical evidence
- Drafting legal documents, client advice and managing reports in line with SLAs
- Attending court hearings, CMCs and pre-trial meetings
- Supporting with business development, client relationships and internal training initiatives
- Mentoring junior team members, including supporting NQ development
- Strong background in defendant catastrophic injury litigation
- Able to work independently within a fast-paced environment
- Confident handling complex legal issues and technical challenges
- Client-focused with experience working to SLAs and reporting requirements
- Salary up to £55,000 DOE
- 28 days’ holiday + option to buy more
- Hybrid working – 2 days office / 3 days home
