Professional Support Lawyer – Employment Manchester £65,000 + Bonus + Exceptional Benefits
We are working with a highly regarded commercial law firm looking to appoint an experienced Professional Support Lawyer to join its Employment team in Manchester.
The team (21 lawyers across two UK offices) delivers high quality employment advice to a broad client base including SMEs, professionals, associations, the third sector, and an expanding private client portfolio with strong links to retail and care.
This is a strategic, non-fee earning role focused on legal excellence, knowledge development and training. Perfect for a technically strong employment solicitor who enjoys the law and wants to shape best practice across a busy and well respected team.
The work the team covers includes:
- Respondent Employment Tribunal litigation (unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing and more)
- Day to day HR advisory matters
- TUPE and collective redundancies
- Chairing grievances, disciplinaries and appeals
- Client training and legal updates
You will play a central role in keeping the team ahead of legislative and case law developments while maintaining best in class precedents and client facing materials.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring employment law developments and regulatory changes
- Producing practical guidance notes and technical updates
- Drafting and maintaining contracts, policies, settlement agreements and tribunal precedents
- Delivering internal training and legal update sessions
- Creating toolkits and knowledge resources
- Supporting client alerts and thought leadership on emerging workplace trends (hybrid working, AI in HR, DEI)
- Qualified solicitor with strong post qualification experience in employment law
- Deep understanding of UK employment legislation and tribunal procedure
- Excellent drafting skills with the ability to translate complex law into practical advice
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple knowledge projects
- A genuine interest in employment law developments and HR trends
Salary is circa £65,000 plus bonus and a genuinely exceptional benefits package.
