Conveyancer (Fee Earner)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Conveyancing Fee Earner to join our dedicated clients team in their Tameside office.

This is a full-time, office-based role designed to provide maternity leave cover for our Head of Residential Conveyancing, starting in May 2026.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside our Head of Residential Conveyancing before her leave to ensure a smooth transition and to gradually build their own caseload, with the possibility of staying on beyond the maternity cover period.

Responsibilities

As a Conveyancer (Fee Earner), you will:

Independently manage a caseload of 70-80 residential conveyancing matters with confidence and professionalism.
Handle a variety of transactions, including:
Sales and purchases
New builds
Remortgages
Leases

Requisition s
Transfers of equity
Deeds of variation
Title reviews
Restriction/legal charge removal
First registration of title
Adverse possession claims
Ensure compliance with Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) requirements.
Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on residential property matters.
Liaise effectively with clients, solicitors, estate agents, lenders, and other third parties.
Effectively use case management systems and ensure accurate and timely updates to files and clients.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex queries with confidence.
Maintain excellent client care, attention to detail, and professional standards.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

A minimum of 5+ years' experience in residential conveyancing.
Proven ability to handle a significant caseload (70-80 files) independently and efficiently.
A sound understanding of the end-to-end conveyancing process across various transaction types.
Familiarity with CQS requirements.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
A client-focused approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Professional qualification as a Conveyancer or Solicitor is not essential; relevant experience is more important.
A commitment to continuing professional development and staying informed about changes in conveyancing law and practice.

Day-to-Day On a typical day, you’ll:

Start your morning by reviewing your caseload and prioritizing urgent matters, such as client inquiries, contract exchanges, and lender communications.
Prepare and review contracts, title reports, and legal documents.
Proactively liaise with clients to ensure they are informed about the progress of their transactions.
Resolve legal queries related to adverse possession, first registrations, or restrictions/legal charges.
Collaborate with the broader conveyancing team to share knowledge and guidance, when needed.
Meet with clients in person to discuss their property transactions and answer their questions.
Attend to post-completion activities, including registration of transactions with HM Land Registry.
Maintain meticulous records and update files in the case management system.
Attend internal team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of conveyancing processes.

Immediate, with a handover period before maternity leave begins in May 2026.
