Overview
Equans is looking for a Mobile Technical Operative (Mechanical) for the HMCTS contract at Manchester Civil Justice Centre. The role is permanent, full‑time (40 hrs per week) and offers a competitive salary and benefits.
Responsibilities- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical plant, following CAFM and site task schedules.
- Repair plant faults and defects promptly to maintain serviceability.
- Provide parts lists, estimated time‑scales and ensure spares availability.
- Complete and submit all relevant paperwork/CAFM for PPM, reactive and breakdown works.
- Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks.
- Work safely, wearing uniform and PPE at all times; maintain a safe, healthy workplace.
- Maintain up‑to‑date plant logs; keep plant rooms clean and tidy.
- Supervise and monitor subcontractor work on site.
- Arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover; be flexible in working patterns.
- Perform lone working where required, after satisfactory training.
- Respond to verbal and written client requests promptly; coordinate quotations.
- Support helpdesk in reporting and updating planned/reactive maintenance; be available for out‑of‑hours call‑out support.
- Gain required technical appointments (e.g., LVCP, LVAP, Mechanical, Pressure CP).
- Produce condition/dilapidation reports as required.
- Adhere to KPI/SLA and company quality standards.
- Operate Permit to Work System in accordance with client and company policies.
- May be required to participate in a call‑out rota for occasional emergency support.
Roles include fault finding, minor repairs, installation alongside general maintenance services.
Qualifications and Experience- Approximately 5 years’ relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer in facilities management.
- City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
- Excellent communication skills at all staff levels.
- Proactive and committed to high operational standards.
- Good IT and report‑writing skills.
