We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hardworking Caretaker to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in North Manchester from September
.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a brand-new transition block
, featuring state-of-the-art facilities designed to provide an outstanding learning environment for students. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the building remains safe, secure, clean, and well‑maintained for both staff and pupils.
- Opening and securing the school building each day.
- Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Ensuring the premises and grounds are clean, safe, and well‑presented.
- Conducting regular health and safety checks.
- Setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and events.
- Liaising with contractors and reporting maintenance issues as required.
- Supporting the school with general site management duties.
- Previous caretaking, maintenance, or site management experience (school experience is desirable but not essential).
- Good DIY and practical maintenance skills.
- A proactive approach with excellent problem‑solving abilities.
- The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
This role is subject to safer recruitment procedures in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance. The successful candidate will be required to:
- Hold or obtain an Enhanced DBS check, including a Children's Barred List check.
- Provide satisfactory references covering the previous two years of employment.
- Complete all required pre‑employment checks, including identity, right to work in the UK, and qualification verification where applicable.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- A full‑time role with consistent hours.
